Can someone please help me figure out transit plans?

Here’s what I want to do:
Travel from St. Louis, MO in the evening/night (or, if it has to be, in the afternoon) on Friday, June 29 to Mishawaka, IN (near South Bend, IN, about 90 miles east of Chicago), arriving in Mishawaka by 2:00 p.m. on Saturday, June 30. Then I need to travel from Mishawaka, leaving no earlier than 4:30 p.m., to get to Kansas City, MO by 5:30 a.m. on Sunday, July 1.
I’ve looked at schedules on Greyhound and Amtrak, and I’ve done Google searches for other bus and train lines, but none of them have times that work. (Some have times that work for getting me to South Bend, but then the bus or train doesn’t leave until much later after 4:30 p.m. and wouldn’t get me to Kansas City in time.)
Please, can someone tell me a bus line or train line that has a schedule that works with this or give me tips on how to search for one? Also, I need to know how to get between South Bend and Mishawaka (I don’t think major lines go to Mishawaka.)
I need an answer a.s.a.p.! Thanks!

The Metra in Chicago, how do I get around?

June 27th, 2009 | Posted in Bus   4 Comments

I’m in Highland, Indiana and am going to take the Time Travel train (South Shore Line) all the way to the end, Millennium Station at Randolph. Apparently the Metra is connected to the Millennium Station? I’m heading to 3411 N Halsted St for the Chicago Diner except I have no clue how to get there. I’m stuck at the Millennium Station. I yahoo searched the metra lines except I have to go through 4 lines including the train. Do I have to pay for each time I get on a metra line? Or is there transfers as in buses? And is the Millennium station the Millennium park? Where do I buy a ticket to get on the Metra? I only have $60 for two people. So I have to have enough money to take the train there and back and enough to buy food.

I can also walk from Millennium Park to the Diner, unless it’s too far and too awkward to walk by. Or maybe even rent a bike if that’s possible. No taxis, too expensive.

Even a bus would do! As long as I get there.

One more thing, Is bus #29 near there? The bus that goes through Illinois st. I need to get something from that street also..

I’m not from here so any advice would do.

As young and lame as this might sound… Any thing interesting to do for 2 seventeen year-olds? Nothing awkward or intimidating please.

HV AC Question: Humidity levels?

June 27th, 2009 | Posted in Air   3 Comments

The Facts: I live in a chicago suburb, the temperature outside right now is 27 degrees F. I have a high efficiency furnace built on its side laying on my dirt crawl space floor supported by cinder blocks. There is a tube that fills with water on the side of the furnace. The tube is feeding into what appears to be the blower motor from a 2 diameter round pancake fixture. Once the tube fills with water, the furnace doesn’t work. At this point I have been instructed from a professional HV AC person to drain the water. I just purchased a dehumidifier and placed it within 4′ of the furnace in hopes of solving the problem. For the last two hours that it has been on it has accumulated approximately 1 cup of water. The humidity at this time after the dehumidifier has been on for 2 hours is at 54%.

1. What should the humidity level be at the furnace, in my dirt crawl space.

2. Assuming 65 pints per 24 hour is more than enough of a dehumidifier for the space according to the Menard’s sign; Will a dehumidifier correct the problem.

3. Is the source of that air traveling through the tube that fills with water coming from the return register or from the intake on the side of the furnace, that is currently not routed to an exterior air intake (I am told this should be).
Max J: I can not leave the drain open, the blower motor will not kick on until the tube is re-inserted over the fitting. Almost as if there was pressure.

Traveling to Chicago?

June 22nd, 2009 | Posted in Bus   3 Comments

I’m planning on traveling to Chicago and looking for areas to stay at. Does anybody know about Deerfield, Illinois? how long is it from like downtown Chicago and such. Also how is the transportation in Chicago? Is it anything like NYC. In NY most hotels have a bus route from New Jersey that will take you to the city, i’m wondering if its same in Chicago or do i have to drive with my own car to downtown? thanks

We travel to continents East and West to Travel by Air and Sea, how about North and South?

June 22nd, 2009 | Posted in Air   4 Comments

I was playing around on Google earth and came up with a big stumper of a question. We travel by Airplane and Ship to travel between continents from East to West or West to East. Why don’t we travel from North to South or South to North to get to the other side of the world? Why don’t airlines fly from Chicago, go over the North Pole and land in Moscow? Is it a matter of distance? If so could the aerospace community returning back to the idea of Nuclear Powered Airplanes be the solution?

We are taking a trip to Asia and wonder if anyone has used the services of a ticket broker (Air Brokers In?
