How do I get from New York to Chicago?

Friday, January 30th, 2009

I’m going to be in New York early Saturday afternoon and I’m trying to get back to Chicago (where my car’s parked), without traveling all day. I can’t find ANY flights direct from NY MacArthur, JFK, or Newark to Chicago Midway.

Flying to O’Hare really isn’t an option unless there’s a particularly good way to get from the airport to Millenium Station (in Chicago).

Here’s what I’m shooting for….. looking to get to Chicago as quickly as possible, without scraping my @ss out of bed before noon on Saturday.

So far my best option is a bus from NY to Philadelphia, then a flight via Southwest to Chicago Midway. Anyone have any better ideas? Thanks.
I tried the Travelocity search, and no flights came up without requiring a connection somewhere, and they were all at least 6 hours or so, which is definitely longer than a bus to Philly.
FYI, my car’s at the 93rd (South Chicago) Metra Station.

Why do Bensenville and Elk Grove still oppose Ohare Expansion?

After spending at least $6 million dollars, numerous court cases saying they are wrong, and the economy in the toilet, when are the villages going to stop the wasteful spending on dragging out this inevitable situation? It is nearly impossible to win an eminent domain case. The villages thought that by bringing needless lawsuit after lawsuit that somehow Chicago was just going to say, yeah, you are right, we will stop? Chicago is the main source for our nations air traffic delays. Do you think that any agency, court, or otherwise arbitrator is going to put the needs, wants or desires, of a combined total of 55,000 residents above the needs of the nations air travelling public? The fact that only about 200 more homes and PART of a cemetary need to be razed/relocated are what has been dragging this thing on for years? Homeowners that already sold, got FAIR MARKET VALUE +++ for their homes, at the time they were sold. They should be thankful to have gotten that, based on the current real estate market – they actually got more than its worth. It would be different if there was no such eminent domain law on the books, locally and nationally. More peoples homes (and cemetaries) have been moved or razed to lay railroad tracks, roads, or shopping malls, so there is legal precedent and history. After all is said and done, I would love to see court ordered legal fees for OHare/Chicago have to be paid for by Elk Grove and Bensenville. Please – anyone, why is it that these 2 towns and their residents should be above everyone else ? Its called STANDING IN THE WAY OF PROGRESS

Traveling from Carol Stream to Chicago ?

Wednesday, January 21st, 2009

I’m working on getting a job that requires me to work in downtown Chicago. What I’m trying to avoid is having to drive my car to Chicago through all the traffic and trying to find some place to eventually park it. What I’m trying to figure out is if there are any trains, buses, or if the L train will get me relatively close to my destination. I’m trying to get to is E Lake St. and Prudential Plaza, again this is in downtown Chicago. If anybody could help me find a route that doesn’t involve me having to use my car I would appreciate it.

Plane, or train?

Tuesday, January 13th, 2009

I’m flying from New York to Chicago with 2 friends.
Would it be more reasonable to ride a 20 hour train, with a total of $320 round trip for all 3 of us, or would it be more reasonable to pay around $200 per person for a 2 hour plane trip?
We’re not in such a rush – we’ll be there for 5 days total.
Lol, – AND the plane is roundtrip. Whoops.
