Best flight route from Chicago to Kolkata, India?

I have to travel to Kolkata India for business and am trying to find the best air travel route. It doesn’t have to be the cheapest but the shortest time would be the most desirable. Connect thru London? Are there any direct flights from Japan or China?

    Air India flies 3 times a week from Chicago O’Hare to London Heathrow and on to India. I have travelled to the USA twice and enjoyed the flight AND the price:
    May 2001 – July 2001 cost 253GBP and about the same 3 weeks after the 9-11 tragedy when I returned to the States.
    And this was a 90-day open return!

    sorry but do you mean, calcutta?

    you can opt to take a flight from o’hare (ord) to calcutta (ccu) and connect in london (lhr), which will take 20 to 21 hours.

    it may not be a great idea to go chi to tokyo to ccu because ord to narita takes 10 hours and narita to ccu takes 12 hours. it’s even longer if you go chi to osaka to ccu.

    it becomes even worse if you go chi to beijing to ccu since ord to pek flights take about 13 hours (and that’s nonstop) and pek to ccu takes 9-10 hours. don’t even bother about tianjin! that will take forever! (lol)

    so the best route really is ord to lhr to ccu. at least you don’t have to make more than one connection.
