How do I use the chicago subway to get to N Wells street between Ontario and N Orleans in Chicago from Ogilvie

Sunday, July 4th, 2010

I am trying to get to Ed Debevics in Chicago. We are taking the train to Chicago and we don’t want to walk all the way. We are getting off at Ogilvie Station. Is there a subway we could take or a bus? I am not familier with those things.

Here is a map of where the place is: http://www.mapquest.com/maps?city=Chicagostate=ILaddress=640+N.+Wells+St.#a/maps/l::640+N+Wells+St:Chicago:IL:60610-3718:US:41.893586:-87.634114:address:Cook+County/m::12:41.893586:-87.634114:0:0:/io:0:::::f:EN:M:/e

Is Kennedy-Kings College in Chicago, IL safe to go to?

Saturday, June 12th, 2010

I am a full time student at UIC but I’d like to take this one course that is only offered at Kennedy-Kings College in Chicago. The class goes from 2-3:30 PM on Tuesdays and Thursdays. I would be taking the bus (CTA Bus #8) all the way down to Halsted and 63rd. I am a 5 foot 85 lb girl. I’ve talked to some friends and they don’t recommend me going down there because they say it is a bad neighborhood. Have any opinions? Advice?

Wanting to go to Chicago?

Wednesday, June 2nd, 2010

I want to take an Amtrak train from Bloomington/Normal Illinois to Chicago and then go from there to the Museum of Science and Industry. Union Station and the Museum are 8 miles away so I’ll need some way to get there. What’s the best and cheapest way to? It’s like 21 bucks for a taxi so I’d rather not do that if it’s cheaper to take a bus or something else. Can anybody tell me a cheap way to get there? Like what there is and how much it’d be? Thanks so much!
Thank you so much that’s just what I was looking for! Man your tough to be able to live in Chicago as a Cards fan. And I thought being a Cardinal fan in Central Illinois was tough. lol Thanks again!

How can I wait for someone at the international terminal of O’Hare without freezing to death in 2 weeks?

Wednesday, May 12th, 2010

I’m going to be going to Chicago on February 1st. On February 2nd, a friend of mine from South Korea will be joining me. I will be coming into Chicago via Amtrak, and taking my hotel’s shuttle bus to O’Hare. My friend will be arriving in Terminal 5 (The International Terminal, obviously). I spoke with an operator at O’Hare, and asked about how I would go about meeting up with my friend, and she told me that I would not be able to have any access whatsoever to the terminal unless I myself had a ticket. I asked if there was any threshold between the exit doors and customs where I would be able to stand and wait, lest I stand outside for 30-45 minutes in freezing temperatures. she couldn’t answer that question.

So basically, what I’m trying to do is figure out a meeting place for my friend and I to arrange that won’t confuse either of us without me freezing to death. Is this at all possible, or should I pack two layers of clothes for this day?

Chicago public trasnportation?

Saturday, March 6th, 2010

I’m visiting Chicago with my friends for spring break and we decided to stay at Rodeway Inn, Lyons (8640 Ogden Ave) for the first few days. (chose the hotel for the price) I was told that they have a bus stop very close to the hotel and that’s why we chose the hotel. But I have just found out that the buses there only run until 7pm, and I will arrive at Midway Airport around 8pm. What is the best way to get to the hotel? Is taking a taxi going to be expensive?
Yea, i know… Obviously none of us know Chicago and we didnt know that it’s so far away and it’s apparently hard to get buses or trains there…
There are only 3 of us, and we can afford taking cabs everywhere, but it would be better if we could safe that money for shopping instead.

We did ask the hotel if there’s bus/train available in the area and they answered that they do.

Is there a bus to Copper (ski), in Colorado?

Friday, February 12th, 2010

So I’m a freshman in college at CU Boulder. I’m from Chicago but I’ve been skiing in Utah since I was about 6. SO now I am trying to decide on where to buy my ski pass. I’m thinking of either Eldora or Copper. I like how close Eldora is, but Ive heard its smaller. I like how big Copper sounds, but Idont like how its almost 2 hrs away. Also, a big deciding factor would be if either has a bus that goes there and back. I know for a fact that Eldora has a bus, but I am still unsure as to whether Copper has one or not.

So…

Which do you think I should buy the pass for?

Eldora:
Pro: Close, Cheap, Has bus
Con: Small

Copper:
Pro: Big
Con: Far, More expensive, Might not have bus

How much do EMTs make in Chicago and how long are the shifts?

Saturday, January 9th, 2010

I am leaving one job with the YMCA right now that is $10/hr with 14 hrs a week. I am going hopefully be a school bus driver soon at Jewels bus Company with $10-12/hr with at least 20 hrs a week. I want to know how much EMTs in Chicago make and their shifts to see whether or not i should keep my EMT Class because i wouldnt be able to do 2o hrs with EMT because since the bus company is paying for training i have to stay with them for 1 year or they doc $500. Which would you too? Thanks.

how can i make moving from chicago to santa barbara, ca without a car easier?

Monday, December 28th, 2009

my boyfriend and i plan on putting a majority of our money together to move from the suburbs of chicago, to santa barbara, ca. unfortunately, he doesn’t drive and i very highly doubt my car will make the trip. therefore, that leaves us with either the bus or train (flying is too costly). we plan on using public transit and biking to get around once in SB, but now we’re faced with a new dilemma: how do we get our larger belongings like a couch, bed, etc, cross-country without a car?

if there is such a way, what would be some cheaper options, if any? or would we be just better off buying new furnishing once out there?

any help is majorly appreciated. i’m counting on you, guys! thanks in advance. :]

Is there anywhere to park at West Hubbard st. and N. Lasalle st. in Chicago?

Thursday, December 24th, 2009

My aunt is in town from Atlanta and wants to meet me and my girlfriend for dinner at O’Callaghan’s (29 W. Hubbard st.) at 5:30 p.m tomorrow ( Wednesday).

I am also from Atlanta and New to Chicago and don’t know my way around yet.I live in Elmwood Park at Grand ave and Harlem ave. What is the best way to get to Hubbard st and Lasalle st from Elmwood park? I would like to drive and avoid taking a train or bus.

How is the parking there? Is there street parking and plenty of meters? Are there parking garages there that aren’t sky high price wise? if it’s best for me to take a bus or train can you please explain what train or bus I need to take and where to get off at? The more detailed answer the better.

Thank’s to all the nice people of Chicago that help me out with this question.
