Saturday, July 25th, 2009

I am flying into Midway airport and I have to get to the Greyhound Bus Station. What is the cheapest way to get there? Is there a train or local bus I could take that is safe (I am a female traveling alone). Would a taxi be very expensive?

How can I move if I’m travelling by bus?

Monday, July 20th, 2009

I want to go to Chicago for college and I’ll live in the dorms.

Anyway I don’t drive so I’m gonna travel from Lincoln NE to Chicago to get there and back home.

I’ve researched Pack and Movers and they said they can bring a truck to your house, leave it for three days and have someone load the truck and they’ll take it to Chicago right?

Suggestions? How do I get my stuff from home to Chicago? I doubt a train or bus will let me take a whole bedroom with me haha.

I live with my parents btw.

1) A honeybee leaves the hive and travels 2km before returning. Is the displacement for the trip the same as the distance traveled ? If not, why?

2) Two buses depart from Chicago, one going to New York and one going to San Francisco. Each bus travels at a speed of 30m/s. Do they have equal velocities? Explain.

3) Often, traffic lights are timed ao that you travel at a certain speed, you can avoid all red lights. Discuss how the timing of lights is determined, considering that the distance between them varies from one to the next.

4) One of the following statements is incorrect. (a) the car traveled around the track at a consstant velocity. (b) the car traveled around the track at a constant speed. Which statement is incorrect? why?

What is the best/safest way to get to Chicago?

Friday, July 10th, 2009

I was wondering if anyone knew what the best and safest way was to travel by public transportation was? I looked up the megabus and some train (can’t remember the name). Are there any other forms of public transportation, like a different bus or train? Whenever I decide to leave for Chicago, it will only be a weeks notice and the earliest I can get a ticket for the bus or train. For the megabus it would be like $60 there and back. And for the train, over $100. I really can’t spend over $100 dollars. So if anyone knows of a cheap way to get there, I’m all ears! :)
I plan to visit my boyfriend so someway or another I have to be able to get there. I’m kind of nervous because I’ll be going by myself and i don’t know what to expect on a bus or train since I’ve never went on one, it’s even more scary going alone it seems. I’m only 19 years old and my car is not a reliable enough source for me to get there and plus, gas is way too expensive.

Thanks for any information in advance!!! :) Also, I live in Toledo, Ohio, So that is where I would be departing from to get to Chicago.

How much is deducted after each use of the Chicago Card?

Thursday, July 9th, 2009

I would like to calculate which method of public transportation would be cheaper for the month–a chicago card or a 30-day bus pass?

The 30-day pass is $75. I have no idea how Chicago card deducts money for each use. I know with transit cards, sometimes they deduct $2 the first time, then a lower amount. Still not sure about the pattern within a given time. Anyone who knows or has a good link for how to find this out, please let me know. I’ve tried chicagocard and chicagotransitauthority.com but haven’t found out about how much is deducted each time.

*I’m travelling across the city to downtown, and a car is not an option for me.

what train do i take from the greyhound bus station or around that area to the great lakes naval center?

Here’s what I want to do:
Travel from St. Louis, MO in the evening/night (or, if it has to be, in the afternoon) on Friday, June 29 to Mishawaka, IN (near South Bend, IN, about 90 miles east of Chicago), arriving in Mishawaka by 2:00 p.m. on Saturday, June 30. Then I need to travel from Mishawaka, leaving no earlier than 4:30 p.m., to get to Kansas City, MO by 5:30 a.m. on Sunday, July 1.
I’ve looked at schedules on Greyhound and Amtrak, and I’ve done Google searches for other bus and train lines, but none of them have times that work. (Some have times that work for getting me to South Bend, but then the bus or train doesn’t leave until much later after 4:30 p.m. and wouldn’t get me to Kansas City in time.)
Please, can someone tell me a bus line or train line that has a schedule that works with this or give me tips on how to search for one? Also, I need to know how to get between South Bend and Mishawaka (I don’t think major lines go to Mishawaka.)
I need an answer a.s.a.p.! Thanks!
