How can I move if I’m travelling by bus?
Posted by admin
I want to go to Chicago for college and I’ll live in the dorms.
Anyway I don’t drive so I’m gonna travel from Lincoln NE to Chicago to get there and back home.
I’ve researched Pack and Movers and they said they can bring a truck to your house, leave it for three days and have someone load the truck and they’ll take it to Chicago right?
Suggestions? How do I get my stuff from home to Chicago? I doubt a train or bus will let me take a whole bedroom with me haha.
I live with my parents btw.

I suggest finding a family member or friend who is willing to drive you to college, and make it a fun weekend trip for the both of you, one last hurrah before starting college. That way you’ll have all the space in the car to use, and you can stop at some fun places along the way.

I would try to get your parents or a friend to help you move and take you. You could save the money of paying for a train and use it to get a rental truck and pitch in for gas to get to school. Good Luck!

first off all many dorms furnish beds and stuff like that
if you want your own i am sure your family or friends will help you move
another thing you could do is get a U haul and move the stuff yourself
well any way good luck and enjoy the college life and Chicago

i live in chicago and wanted to / thought abt going to school out of state . but i dnt drive and my mom doesnt drive either so i was having the same feeling . but my friend suggested that i take maybe a suitcase or some luggage on a greyhound or amtrack . and just buy the other things u need when u get here . maybe bring clothes things like dat . and when u get here u can buy school supplies and toiletries . shudnt cost that much . and either bring sheets and covers or buy them . and in dorms they have beds , desk , lamps ,etc.

A friend or parent driving a U-Haul would be cheaper than a moving company. That’s what I did when I moved a few states away. I got on a plane with only a duffel bag and a carry-on and had to stay in a hotel for 3 days until the U-haul got here. As an aside, you don’t need that much in a dorm room. I took way too much when I went to college. Have your computer, a radio/stereo and some extra clothes shipped to you. Hit up Target or Wal-Mart for incidentals when you get there. Like pack your bedding with you, but get a new pillow when you get there because they’re too bulky to pack. Just have all the stuff you think you need boxed up and FedEx’ed or UPS’ed to your new address the day you leave. That way you’ll be there to receive it. Happens all the time in college.
