Oxygen for Air Travel with Goldfish?

Posted by admin

I am moving by air from chicago to connecticut by a morning 6:30 am. I will be packing my goldfish in a large plastic with 30% water and rest with air or oxygen. Where can I get small oxygen cylinders?

You can get a battery operated air pump, that should do the trick.

Go to Gander Mountain and get a bubbler for minnows. Battery operated and fairly cheap, and will do the job for you.

I would suggest first checking out TSA’s website or even better calling their customer service and asking if you can take the fish. Years ago when I worked at an airport, they wouldn’t allow people to take fish on, I acquired a betta that way. Now with the new regulations(which are forever changing) on liquids, may not be allowed to bring the bag of water. And, I guarantee they won’t let you on a plane with an oxygen cylinder.

You can check into some oxygen tablets at the store.
